  • ‘Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No’ exploded on social media with ridiculous puns and memes!

On Wednesday night Sharknado 3 was released on TV screens which led to an array of jokes and puns on numerous social media sites.

As soon as ‘Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No’ was released social media was barraged with an ocean of jokes and memes. The storyline for ‘Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No’ revolves around shark on roller coaster leading to the blowing up of the White House and other areas such as space and the Eastern seaboard.

The larger than life storyline provided plenty of fodder for social media enthusiastic who took the opportunity to make jokes and memes to heart.

Syfy has always used their surprise hit franchise as an opportunity to promote themselves on the social media. The film which stars Tara Reid and Ian Ziering in main characters is so bad its actually good and like its two predecessors has always dominated the social media when it comes to making fun.

Some people may be thinking the joke sphere of Sharkando on the social media is part of a big joke, what they don’t realize is that Syfy has used the popularity of the overly ridiculous franchise into a big strategy.

The more people make fun of Sharknado the more famous it becomes and generates substantial revenues for the once unknown entity Syfy. Some of the most popular jokes from the twitter universe were taken from the numerous cameos and the over the top copying from other franchises.

The most talked about part of Sharknado 3 is the chainsaw lightsaber. Numerous twitter users have commented, joked and praised the franchise for coming up with the idea.

One twitter user promptly pointed out there might be copyright violations for using the Star Wars themed weapon, while another praised the scene with hash tags such as ‘Sharknado3’ and ‘Star Wars’ starting to trend.

Similarly the laser beams used in the film Sharknado 3 to kill the sharks were a topic of much interest. Twitter users called the use of large larger than life laser beams used to kill outer space sharks as something akin to obvious in the over the top franchise.

While one user called the entire scene ironic while one user complained the laser could have been put to better use by turning the sharks into popcorn rather than simply killing them.

The use of laser beams also prompted many memes especially using the face of one of our most beloved villains from the Austin Power franchise who had a knack for using sharks with laser beams attached to their heads for killing his foes.

Some users were completely baffled by the storyline of introducing sharks into space and expressed their bewilderment in memes. In one of the memes the famous face of Drake is compared to the bafflement of fans when the sharks land in outer space.

Other jokes surrounding Sharknado 3 consisted of a meme of the infamous anchor Brian Williams who is shown falsifying his accounts once again as he claims to have been there to kill the sharks. A famous meme referenced to the left shark from Katy Perry’s super bowl performance and mused when the left shark was going to make an appearance in the film.

One user even took it as far as to say even though the films are ridiculous by every word imaginable Donald Trump as president would be even scarier. While David Hasselhoff was applauded for his cameo once again!

Once again the Sharkando franchise provided plenty of fodder for twitter users and as Sharknado3 ended on cliff-hanger it’s safe to say the fourth installment will make as big of a ridiculous impact as the previous films.
