Simon Cowell congratulates Malik for making the deal

Zayn Malik was always eyeing a solo career. Now we know what was the actual reason he quit “One Direction”.

Former One Direction star has signed a solo deal with RCA. The 22-year old singer shared the news via Twitter. He posted a photograph of himself where he is smiling and signing some papers.

“I guess I never explained why I left, it was for this moment to be given the opportunity to show you who I really am!#realmusic #RCA!!.”

In his other tweet, he wrote “REALME”, suggesting he was not been able to be himself before.

Simon Cowell, whose record label Syco was releasing Malik’s solo material before, congratulated Zayn Malik for his new contract.

“I believe they are the perfect label for Zayn Malik’s solo career and I am sure whatever they release together will be special.” Simon Cowell wrote in another tweet.

Zayn Malik announced to leave One Direction earlier this year saying, he wanted to live like a “normal 22-year old” person.

“I am leaving because I want to be a normal 22-year old who is able to relax and have some private time out of the spotlight.”

Although remaining band members Niall, Liam, Harry and Louis were upset with Malik’s departure but they respected his decision and wished him good luck for his future.  But there is no word from the former band members on Malik’s new deal.

Many artists are associated with the RCA record label. Justin Timberlake, Chris Brown, Britney Spears and Usher are few to name.

A big question mark was on the future of Zayn Malik as an artist before the signing. He was working with Naughty Boy to release a cover of Rae Sremmurd’s “No Type” after leaving the band. But there collaborative efforts went kaput when Naughty Boy leaked a clip of the music video.
