The hackers previously breached the U.S. Office of Personnel Management and collected massive data.

A hacking team based in China is apparently responsible for another massive cyber-attack. The cyber-attack targeted the United Airlines this time around. Previously the same hackers were found to be responsible for having hacked the insurance company Anthem. From Anthem the hackers stole massive data on government employees and other Americans.

According to Bloomberg sources the United Airlines learned of the cyber-attack back in May. The airline found a breach in their computer system. The investigation which followed as a result of the hack found the China based hackers responsible. The attack on united Airlines apparently took place at the same time the US government was targeted.

The hackers are of Chinese origin but situated out of China currently. Previously the hackers collected a large amount of federal data in the OPM hack. Other American businesses were also targeted in the cyber-attack. It is known at least ten Americans have been targeted in the cyber-attack.

Some sources claim the Chinese government is linked with the hackers. The data collected by the hackers could be extremely beneficial to the Chinese government, as they can pin point which US security officials to keep their eyes on.

Data collected from the United Airlines hack include travel lists along with details on departure and destination locations. Hacking the United Airlines would provide the hackers with information such as the travel plans of US personnel. United Airlines is one of the largest airlines in the world and has extensive contracts with the US government.

All evidence suggests the hackers are compromising strategic US institutes to gain Intel on security personnel. Security experts are also suggesting China is trying to amass a large database on the US government workers.
