Fiat Chrysler Automobiles has another big recall on their hands. It is not Takata's fault this time.

Don't slam the door on your Dodge Charger! Fiat Chrysler Automobiles just issued a recall affecting 284,153 Dodge Charger.

The side impact sensor are potentially overly sensitive. The side air bag inflatable curtains and seat air bags may unexpectedly deploy.

Also the seat belt pre-tensioners may activate. It is not clear what can cause the impact sensor to react. It could be that it is enough to slam the door too hard.

The affected Dodge Chargers are built between 2010 and 2014.

For a change the recall is not because of Japanese airbag maker Takata.

FCA says that the fix of the side impact sensors requires only reprogramming of the module.

Chrysler will notify owners affected owners. Dodge dealers will update the Occupant Restraint Control module calibration free of charge.

FCA filed the recall with the NHTSA on July 31.

The Dodge Charger is a drivers car. The new 2015 Dodge Charger unaffected by the recall is a stunner. The top of the line Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat delivers 707hp.
