  • California Wildfires Continue to Wreak Havoc Over Vast Expanses of Land

California wildfires continue to wreak havoc over vast expanses of land. The damage is beyond what our imaginations could fathom.

Over 134,000 acres are lost due to wildfires. The State of California has been stuck in this mess. The fires have engulfed wide areas of the state and the destruction is still taking place. The problem is the wind which provides a stimulus to the phenomenon.

Almost 1000 firefighters are at it, according to CNN. They are risking their lives and trying to undo the damage. Yet it is a losing battle. Currently, they have more than 21 wildfires to conquer, according to FoxNews. It is an uphill task.

The huge inferno, Rocky Fire, has burnt 54,000 acres. Reduced to ashes, this locus is now a wasteland. The drought in California has proven a scourge. The weather conditions are poor. And the fires have raged all across the state.

Over 12,000 people were lent protection by state authorities, according to NBCNews. Rescue operations are on high alert. The damage to property or greenery is not what matters.

What matters is that human life and limb get saved. 2000 fire department personnel, 180 fire engines and 19 helicopters got employed. And four air tankers are at the job. The goal is the eradication of the flames.

The lightning has not made matters any easier. Many lightning strikes have caused the wildfires in the first place. Over a hundred wildfires started in this way. Mother Nature can be a cruel entity. The thunderstorms have produced no rain.

Thus the dry conditions are ideal for wildfires to flourish. And fierce winds will blow in the days ahead. These will fan the flames even more so. It is hoped that the fires would go down after dark due to the colder temperatures. But such was not to be. They raged on in their devastation.

One firefighter, named David Ruhl, has died in the operation. The tragic death of this brave firefighter is something worth crying bitter tears over. He left behind two children. His death is under investigation.

Most of the fires are haphazard in their nature. And they are large as well as small. The temperatures have gone sky high. The flames cause the thermometers to register 100 degrees Celsius.

Some of the firefighters are making some progress against the fires. All hope is not lost. The clearance of large areas via fire control methods is not a failure as a strategy. It may have its flaws but it also has its many successes.

Thousands of people were evacuated to places of safety. The situation is pretty much under control. But the fires have been a startling shock. There were those living in log cabins. the conflagrations have consumed their homes and everything they had.

Now they will have to start from scratch. Dozens of homes and buildings got razed to the ground by the fires as well. It was a sheer waste of human effort as everything went up in blazes.

Some of the scenes from the wildfires were too infernal to look at. It was hell on earth. The authorities have told people to exercise extreme care. One never knows where the flames will leap to next. Many people saw the fires.

They could not believe their eyes when they saw the whole-scale destruction. It was a tragedy on an epic scale. Most of the state greenery got burned down to ashes. And what got left behind was consumed by the raging wildfires. It will take a lot to get things back to normal.
