Customers are reporting severe sunburns after using product.

A few days ago, images started showing up on social media of a pretty scary situation. Eco-friendly company The Honest Company, which was started by Jessica Alba, has a problem. An investigation shows that the company reduced levels in its sunscreen, which may have rendered it useless. The company reduced the zinc oxide levels to 9.3%. Average amounts in other sunscreens fall between 18 and 25%.

According to the website, the sunscreen is naturally derived, unscented, and non toxic. However, some social media users are claiming that it just doesn't work.

The company is dedicated to “providing the best broad spectrum protection for your family." Still, people young and old have been showing that it might not be the case.

Take a look at some of the photos:

According to TIME, the Honest Company stressed that the sunscreen had positive results from a testing company. They also said that “the number of complaints constitute less than one half of one percent of all units sold. We stand behind the safety and efficacy of this product.”

The company says that they have been upfront about the amount of zinc they put in their product. The packaging lists the ingredients clear as day. They stress that the company uses the amount need to offer adequate protection against burns and UV damage.

Jessica Alba herself hasn't spoken out about the problem. The Honest Company says that they constantly look at their products and see what they can change to make their products better.
