The Jack Russell terrier famous for his part in the film The Artist passed away.

Uggie the dog has passed away. The dog was 13 years old at the time of his death. Uggie was a Jack Russell terrier. Uggie was famous for his part in the 2011 film The Artist. Uggie was put to sleep on the 7th of August.

Uggie was apparently suffering from prostate tumor. The news was first broken by TMZ. Later Omar von Muller the owner of Uggie took to Facebook to confirm the news. The post on Facebook was accompanied by a 39 photos of Uggie.

In the post the owner of Uggie stated he regrets to inform everyone about Uggi’e death. Especially Uggie’s fans will be saddened to know the boy has passed away.

Omar stated they had not been planning to post anything soon. They were planning to take the time to mourn and heal before making any announcements. But since someone leaked the news to TMZ they are officially announcing Uggie’s death.

Omar revealed Uggie had a cancerous tumor in his prostate and was put down due to the pain. The owner then thanked the fans for their support. The owner even stated they will not be reading any comments for a while. As it is still too painful for them.

Uggie shot to fame when he portrayed Jean Dujardin's dog in the Oscar winning film The Artist. Uggie himself won the tongue-in-cheek "Palm Dog" award. The award was given for best canine actor at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival.
