  • Dwayne Johnson will star in the Disney movie ‘Jungle Cruise’!

The Disney movie will bring the classic theme park ride to the big screen.

Disney is about to make a movie on its famous theme park ride ‘Jungle Cruise’. The film will star Dwayne Johnson in a lead role. The news was confirmed by the Hollywood reporter today.

The film is slated to be written by John Requa and Glenn Ficarra. The duo recently wrote the film ‘Focus’ starring Will Smith. The production of the film will be carried out by John Davis and John Fox.

Disney has been trying to make a film on the popular die since 2004. The decision was reached right after the Pirates of the Caribbean film success. The studio then tried to uplift the project again in 2011.

The 2011 project was slated to star Tom Hanks and Tim Allen and written by Roger S.H. Schulman. But the project never took off. Now Disney is once again trying to bring the project on the big screen.

The ride Jungle Cruise itself is an old Disney theme park ride. The ride takes passengers through an African jungle setting. The Nile and Congo River are shown to the passengers along with rhinos and hippos.

Head-hunters are a part of the ride. One section called the Amazon river section also features piranhas. The whole ride gives a retro adventure vibe. So we can expect to see the elements of the ride in the upcoming movie.

The project is in its early phases and production dates have yet to be set, according to THR. The studio will now come up with a schedule for Johnson. Johnson for his part is very excited to be a part of the project.
