Apple iPhone 6S Event at big Bill Graham Civic Auditorium?

Someone booked the large Big Bill Graham Civic Auditorium for a private event during early September. Is it Apple?

Apple is expected to host the iPhone 6S media event on September 9. Apple has hosted past September events at medium/small sized venues including the Yerba Buena Center and the Flint Center. These locations have about 2,000 seats. Local blog Hoodline spotted strange activity around the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium this week.

Police closed streets and revealed that the venue is booked for a private event from September 4 to September 13. This time frame is a match with Apple's iPhone 6S event.

The Bill Graham Civic Auditorium has over 7,000 seats. This means there are about three times more seats the in September events before.

In 2012 Microsoft unveiled the Windows Phone 8 in the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium. Back then the Steve Ballmer led company had Jessica Alba on stage introducing the Windows phone operating syste. This venue is therefore no stranger to smartphone events.

If Apple is holding the September event at a larger venue it likely means there is more than just the iPhone 6S. The additional space could be for journalists outside of the usual Apple pool. It could mean that for instance TV people are invited too as Apple shows off the new Apple TV.

The invites to the Apple media event should arrive early next week. Then we know for sure where the Apple event is taking place.
