Sony has gone crazy once again with this TV remote and speaker hybrid

Remember when Sony released its own particular version of the coolest cooler! It was a cooler with a speaker, a blender, huge wheels, USB power, and lights and so on.

Now Sony has jumped to another silly innovation. It is a weirdly molded TV remote that accompanies built-in speaker. Isn’t it the least practical thing to do?

As this should be obvious from the pictures, the company is focusing on the Japanese market with this device, as everything is written in Japanese.

The idea behind is that occasionally you need to listen to something that is on the TV however you're not really viewing the TV.

Perhaps you are cooking for instance, or playing with your children. With this device, you can carry a TV speaker with you.

The remote accompanies a base station that you connect with your TV to transmit the audio recharge to the device.

It has a large volume dial on the right that can be pushed in to mute the sound. It measures 179mm x 28mm x 71mm and weighs about 440g. It has a battery life of 16 hours.

Sony says that this device is especially valuable when there is a lot of noise around you. Rather than needing to wrench up the volume, you can put the speaker right alongside you.

The SRS-LSR100 is the model number of the remote cum speaker. It will release on September 12th in Japan. The device will sell for ¥19,980 which is about $167.
