New report from Kantar World Panel shows market dominance of Samsung and Apple in the United States.

If it is not an iPhone it is a Samsung. Kantar World Panel released a new smartphone sales report for the past 3 month ending July. Nine of the top ten best-selling smartphones in the United States are either from Apple or Samsung. Only LG appears with one phone in the top 10.

Apple and Samsung hold a combined marketshare of 64% leaving not much room for other vendors. iOS holds a 30% marketshare ahead of the iPhone 6S launch.

Kantar also revealed that iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus have so far combined to make up 24% of all iPhones in use in both the US and China, Appleā€™s two most important markets.

Since September 2014, 32% of US iPhone owners have replaced their devices. This means there is still a huge opportunity for Apple to sell iPhone 6S to existing iPhone owners.

18% of iPhone owners in urban China upgraded their devices yet, offering even more opportunity for Apple in replacement sales.

Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 6S next week on September 9.
