iPhone 6S Apple Event Streams for the First Time on Windows PCs

The Apple iPhone 6S event on September 9 will be streamed live online.

In less than a week, Apple will unveil the new iPhone 6S in a media event on September 9. It will stream the keynote live online on the Apple site. For the first time in Apple's online streaming history, Windows users will be able to watch as well.

Apple uses its own online streaming protocol only supported by Safari browsers. The Apple HTTP Live Streaming (HLS) technology has locked out PC users from watching the Apple events.

The new Microsoft Edge browser changes that. Apple says in the requirements for the Apple event stream that a PC with Microsoft Edge on Windows 10 is supported. This means that over 70 million Windows 10 users are able to follow Tim Cook and colleges live as they unveil the iPhone 6S and more.

The Apple media event live stream will be available on Apple.com. The broadcast will start at 10am PDT.

Apple started to upgrade its live event broadcasts with live blogging about a year ago. After initial breakdowns, the most recent online video streaming events finally show that things have worked well. These live events are a pleasure to watch.

The company chose a very large venue with over 7,000 seats to unveil the iPhone 6S. The Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco has been under lock down for days already in preparation for the event.

It will be interesting to see if Apple will have a female presenter at the iPhone 6S event. The gender mix at keynote events has become a thing in the consumer industry. Samsung did well at the Samsung Gear S2 IFA event yesterday with female presenters.

Apple had Jennifer Bailey as the first female executive present at the WWDC 2015 conference earlier this year.
