$199 iPad mini is Weird Walmart Labor Day Sale 2015 Bestseller

What is the best-selling Labor Day 2015 electronics deal at Walmart? Surprise. A $199 Apple iPad.

Today is the Labor Day 2015 holiday. Today marks the peek of the Labor Day sales. The dynamics of a sale are sometimes rather strange. Consumers act not always rational. A good example for this is the bestseller in the Walmart Labor Day 2015 sale in the electronics isle.

Walmart offers the original iPad mini for $199. According to Walmart the deal saves $50. The problem with this deal is that the iPad mini came out in 2012 and is getting pretty dated. Performance and the screen are far behind today's iPad mini 3.

Apple is not selling the iPad mini anymore. The biggest issue with the deal is that Apple is announcing a new iPad mini 4 most like on Wednesday in a media event at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco.

If indeed Apple will introduce a new iPad mini 4, the prices of the older generations will drop. Apple is like discounting the iPad mini 3 by $100 and cuts the iPad mini 2. This means that retailers will sell of the iPad mini 2 inventory at iPad mini prices.

The big advantage of the iPad mini 2 is its Retina display.

The Best Buy Labor Day sale offers a $100 discount on the iPad mini 3, bringing the price down to $299.99. The savings on this deal are fine, but again Apple is rumored to unveil a new iPad mini 4 this Wednesday. This will set the official price of the iPad mini 3 to $299.99 matching today's Best Buy deal.

It never makes sense to buy Apple products days ahead of an Apple media event.

For Labor Day deals other products including cars are the better options.
