Borgward PHEV Coming to 2015 Frankfurt Auto Show
Green Car Reports posted above teaser for new Borgward SUV debuting at 2015 Frankfurt Auto Show.
  • Borgward to revive itself with a Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) at Frankfurt show!

The German car brand will be making a fresh start at the Frankfurt Motor Show with a car for the Chinese market.

Borgward is a small automaker who has remained dormant for many decades. In 1961 the brand saw bankruptcy which led to a low profile. Now it seems Borgward is all set on reviving its brand at the Frankfurt International Motor Show.

The German automaker will be coming to the show with Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV). In March Borgward showed off its restored half-century old model at the Geneva Motor Show.

At the same show Borgward promised it will be building a plug-in hybrid SUV, according to Green Car Reports.

It seems Borgward will come to the Frankfurt Motor Show with a new car unlike anything the company ever produced. The electric vehicle will be revealed at the Frankfurt International Motor Show.

Rumor has it the PHEV has been especially designed to target the Chinese market. The speculation has some weight since Borgward’s revival is taking place with the help of a Chinese firm.

The Chinese industrial firm is apparently called Foton and has been helping Borgward build the PHEV. The revival is being supervised by Christian Borgward. Christian Borgward is the grandson of the brand founder Carl F.W. Borgward. Sources claim the manufacturing of the PHEV may even take place in China.

In another move Borgward changed its home from Bremen to Stuttgart in Germany. The new headquarter currently hold a 1000 employees. Although a manufacturing plant may not be built in Germany.

Statements by Borgward have revealed the PHEV will be designed and engineered in Germany. But it does not answer whether the car will be manufactured in Germany too.
