Sprint starts selling Apple Watch at 8am September 25

Sprint announced that it will start selling the Apple Watch this Friday along with the iPhone 6S sales launch.

The new iPhone 6S is almost here. 5 more days and the iPhone 6S starts shipping. At the same time Apple is expanding the channels for the Apple Watch to carriers. Sprint announced on Sunday that the carrier will offer the Apple Watch starting on Friday, September 25.

"We believe Apple Watch will be one of the hottest gifts for the holiday shopping season," said Marcelo Claure, CEO, Sprint. “We are excited to offer Apple Watch at hundreds of our stores alongside iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus.”

Sprint stores will open early at 8:00 a.m. local time on September 25 for the iPhone 6S sales launch.

The availability of the Apple Watch in carrier stores is also a sign of where the Apple Watch will go in the future. Like some other smartwatches on the market, eventually the Apple Watch will get its own cellular network connectivity to free it from the iPhone.

An Apple Watch LTE is not expected for 2016. It would be a big surprise if Apple has already solved the problem of battery life and 3G or LTE connectivity.

As reported in our first look at Black Friday 2015 Apple Deals, the Apple Watch will be one of the hottest Christmas gifts this season. There will be Apple Watch Black Friday deals for several reasons.

Apple is aiming to establish a solid install base for app developers. It is also expected that Apple will release an Apple Watch 2 in Spring. This means that the current Apple Watch is nearing its end of life. Another reason is that the Apple Watch is not just available from the Apple Store, but also Best Buy and carrier stores.
