The new Passat was unveiled amid scandal after Volkswagen apologized to the US. After the scandal Volkswagen stock plummeted as investigation was carried out by the US government.

The US agencies found the German automaker was falsifying its account of emissions in diesel engines. According to experts more than 11 million Volkswagen vehicles have been affected.

The 2016 Passat was recently in Brooklyn this week. The new mid-size Sedan was released with all the prerequisite fan-fare. The hood of the Sedan was also redesigned along with front fenders, grille, and bumpers. The interior has also been upgraded.

The interior now has upgraded panels and panel instruments. The steering wheel and the column have also been redesigned.

The engine of the new Passat 2016 consists of a 1.8-liter turbocharged engine. The engine also consists of a TSI four-cylinder. The engine is a 2.0-L TDI (diesel). Additionally 3.6L VR6 engines from the previous generation have added.

It is not clear how the scandal will affect sales of the car. The 2016 Passat will be developed and assembled at the Volkswagen plant in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The 2016 Passat will have a starting price of $22,440.

“We applied a progressive design strategy with the new Passat, giving the car a dynamic presence and a more sophisticated look,” said Klaus Bischoff, Head of Design, Volkswagen. ”We have integrated several new design elements, including a sculpted, domed hood that significantly sets the car apart from its predecessor.”
