Selena Gomez harnesses all negativity of her body shaming into producing an inspiring album.

Selena Gomez has been a transitional beauty since day one. Starting off as a sweet Barney kid, she then became a Disney girl in a not so ‘good girl’ role of Alex Russo. She evolved from there to a teen actor and a singer.

Now the multi-talented star is lending her voice in the upcoming animated movie, Hotel Transylvania 2. She has already worked for the franchise and while she promoted the movie, said that it was a no-brainer to do the movie’s sequel. She said that having a feel-good family fun movie in one’s harness is a great thing.

Selena also talked about the negative attitude that she has experienced on social media. While interviewing with Extra, she said that there were durations when she felt like she had to be off the social media for a while.

She admitted that she had uninstalled Instagram from her phone and didn’t feel like reopening it. She said that people had definitely hurt her by making negative comments and body shaming her for gaining weight. The lesson she has learned from it is to tell the young people that they have their own individuality that should not be put down into negativity.

She said that instead of taking it all to heart, she invested her emotions into making her new album ‘Revival’. She said that she is continually changing and evolving. Revival is a representation of her growth as a person and all that she has learned.

People’s criticism allowed her to feel genuine emotions which made for great lyrics. She specified that the songs 'Survivors,' 'Kill 'em with Kindness,' and 'Rise’ are definitely some tracks that have come from her heart and experience.

She has a message in these songs that she hopes would instil compassion and a spirit among many other people who feel like they don’t belong. She called the album the most exciting thing she had done in her whole career.

She also enlightened the fans on how she keeps it real. She said that she surrounds herself with a positive circle of friends. She said that it is important for her to have friends who are not celebrities to keep her grounded: her roommates, a realtor and a charity worker in that regard.

She also mentioned Demi Lovato and Taylor Swift as her friends who understand negative comments and where they are coming from. She said that they are the most supportive in that regard.
