Naomi Scott is the Pink Power Ranger in 2017 Power Rangers Movie

The role of the Pink Power Ranger is taken.

The Power Rangers TV series from the 90s had really bad visual affects. I just watched an episode last weekend because my kids spotted it on Netflix. It is even more awful than I remembered. My 6 and 4 year old kids loved it though. The show has something that is catnip for kids, especially boys. The producers of the Power Rangers reboot try to bring that appeal of the TV show to the big screen.

Details of the Power Rangers movie are still sparse. A couple hours ago the producers unveiled on Instagram that Naomi Scott will be the Pink Ranger. The 22-year-old English actress is right now on the big screen in The Martian. She also got a lot of attention from her role in the 2011 TV series Terra Nova.

The new Power Rangers movie is rumored to also star Austin Butler, Mitchell Hope, Daniel Zovatto, Ross Buttler and Brian Marc according to ComingSoon.

The movie will try to bring the core story of Power Rangers today. A group of High School kids got alien powers and need to save the world.

Power Rangers is known around the world. The 2017 Power Rangers could be a huge global blockbuster if done right.

It’s official! #NaomiScott will play the #PinkRanger in the @PowerRangersMovie! Coming in 2017…
