This is bad news for Volkswagen. Hollywood is going to make a movie about the emission cheating scandal.

The Volkswagen Emission scandal will stay in the public consciousness. Leonardo DiCaprio will make sure of it. The actor, producer and environmental activist has acquired the rights to the unreleased book by Jack Ewing according to THR.

Jack Ewing, New York Times journalist, got a six-figure book deal to unveil one of the biggest scandals in corporate history. As widely as 11 million reported Volkswagen Diesel cars have chips that detect when the car is in an emissions test situation. On the open road the cars exceeded emissions by 30 to 40 times. The scandal will cost Volkswagen billions. Criminal investigations are underway in Germany and large lawsuits have been filed in the United States and in other countries.

The book is not written yet, but DiCaprio's production company Appian already has the hand on it along with Paramount to bring the story to the big screen. This can still take 2 years until the Volkswagen Scandal is in cinemas. Basically Volkswagen's marketing can already prepare themselves that all the work fixing the German carmaker's reputation will be out the window in 2 years again.

The Hollywood Reporter says that DiCaprio and Jennifer Davisson Killoran will produce the movie with Appian Way.
