Skype Launches New Chat Feature For People Without A Skype Account

Skype is expanding on its chat feature, and now makes it possible for persons not registered with the instant messaging service to use Skype for chatting without the need to create a new user account. The unregistered individual or group of persons only need be invited by a registered user, and they can go on chatting till kingdom come.

Owned by Microsoft, Skype launched the new chat service to enable people chat with Skype without being bothered with account creation, and ultimately to attract a wider section of users from across the world to the chatting service.

This chat service is available to people using Windows or Mac PC, and they only need sign into their Skype for Windows or Skype for Mac accounts to activate the unique link needed to invite unregistered persons to use the chat service. Users can share the unique link to the person(s) they are inviting via email, Twitter, Facebook, and WhatsApp among others.

"Today, we're excited to announce something new - a small change that will make a big difference to how people use Skype every day," Microsoft revealed in a blog post. "We've started to roll out the ability for users to invite anyone to join a Skype chat by sharing a unique link - send it however you want, in an email, on Facebook, WhatsApp, Messenger or Twitter."

A user will be able to invite a new user to a chat session by clicking on the +New or “Add People” button, and this will generate a unique link which can be shared with the invitee(s) via various options. The recipient only need click on the sent link to be taken to a Skype for Web interface page where they will enter their name to login to the chat session.

Android and iOS device owners can also receive the invitation link to chat if they have a Skype account, but Microsoft is working to make it possible for mobile users without a Skype account to use the chat feature later in the future.

Meanwhile, this new Skype chat service is available to users and persons within the US and UK for now, so long they have a Skype for Web client; but this will be rolled out to people in other countries before the end of the year.

This new chat feature will be very beneficial to users with friends and families, and as well as business executives or employees who need to get in chat conference with associates and employees. It will sure promote private and business conversations among a lot of people worldwide.
