The beloved film star will have his own Christmas movie.

Actor Bill Murray and some of his most famous friends are getting into the Christmas spirit a little early this year thanks to a new movie from Netflix. The Golden Globe winner will star in an original holiday special entitled A Very Murray Christmas, which will be directed and co-written by Sofia Coppola.

"It just started from wanting to see Bill sing and our fondness for those old Christmas specials that were on TV in the '70s and '80s," Coppola said of the movie. The movie will have a definite feeling of the classic holiday specials that so many have tried to replicate in recent years. The description of the movie, from Netflix, is:

This winter, Bill Murray brings an extra-special dose of holiday cheer to Netflix with the premiere of an all-star musically-driven holiday special, A Very Murray Christmas. Set inside New York City’s iconic Carlyle hotel, A Very Murray Christmas opens with Murray preparing to host a live, international holiday broadcast. After a blizzard shuts down the production, he makes the best of the situation by singing and celebrating with friends, hotel employees and anyone else who drops by.

Of course, no holiday special would be complete without some guest stars in the line-up to make everyone clamor around their television sets with a glass of egg nog. Some of the A-list stars coming to the screen with Murray, including Miley Cyrus, Chris Rock, Amy Poehler, Michael Cera, Maya Rudolph, and George Clooney - and likely other surprise guests.

"Bill is friends with George, so that's how he came on. Then, we wanted a pop starlet," says Coppola. "I had met Miley through Marc Jacobs and she seemed really game and nice, so I asked through a friend."

Coppola says that working with Miley was fun and a learning experience - because she really didn't know how talented Miley was: "She was a good sport. On the day we were shooting with her, we realized we were short on a song and we asked her if she could learn a second song," she says of how Cyrus' performance of "Silent Night" came about. "They just whipped that together over lunch! To hear her singing live on set with just the piano was really fantastic. I was impressed that she can really sing."

You can catch A Very Murray Christmas on December 4 on Netflix. In the meantime, just keep rewatching the awesome trailer below:
