Apple CEO Tim Cook reveals that 6.5 million pay for Apple Music.

Apple Music is off to a fast start. In just 3 months, Apple signed up 6.5 million paying customers for Apple Music. The streaming leader Spotify has accumulated 20 million paying customers, but they have been at it for years.

Tim Cook also unveiled that an additional 8.5 million consumers are on the free Apple Music trial right now. This means that Apple is likely ending 2015 with 10 million paying Apple Music customers. In 2016 Apple will catch up or overtake Spotify if the momentum of sign-ups continues.

Tim Cook also revealed that he is an avid Apple Music user and that the main advantage of Apple Music is its human curation.

The Apple CEO made these revelations about Apple Music last night at the WSJDLive 2015 event last night. While Tim Cook is very forthcoming with numbers about Apple Music, he stays totally silent on the Apple Watch. He said that the Apple Watch sales numbers is competitive information. He just said that the Apple Watch sales increased each quarter and he expects to sell even more in the Holiday quarter.

We could not agree more. The Apple Watch is the hottest Holiday Tech gift. It is perfect in so many ways as a gift. We have voted it as the #1 Holiday Tech Gift 2015 in our Top 50 Holiday Tech Gifts 2015 list.

As reported earlier, Tim Cook announced that the new Apple TV 4 goes on sale on Monday, October 26.
