BlackBerry Priv Expected To Launch in India For INR 50,635

BlackBerry Priv will carry a premium price tag!

As revealed by the listing on Zauba, BlackBerry’s upcoming phone Priv could cost around $780. Zauba is an Indian website that tracks the imports and exports of the region.

According to the listing, a total of 4 Priv units were imported to India on October 14. Each unit was priced at INR 50,635.

UK retailer Carphone Warehouse, just last week, started taking pre-orders for the phone. BlackBerry Priv was priced at £49 ($75)/month on a regular two year contract and £580 ($895) off contract.

Before the official announcement by Carphone, a famous Chinese leakster; Leaksfly, claimed that the device would be priced at RMB 3,999 (around $630) in China.

CEO John Chen has confirmed that Priv will be financially affordable and won’t be too pricey. He said in his statement during the Code/Mobile conference earlier this month that the company would make it easy to buy either by installments or from any other way.

As far as the specifications are concerned, BlackBerry Priv will come with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS. It will have a 5.4-inch QHD display with 2560 x 1440 pixels resolution.

The device is powered by a Hexa-core (1.8GHz dual core + 1.44GHz quad core) Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor with Adreno 418 GPU.

The phone has 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. Priv comes with an 18-megapixel back camera and a 2-megapixel front camera.

The device will have a whooping 3410mAh battery. The Priv also has a slide out keyboard. BlackBerry has already started pre-register for the handset.
