A 15 year old boy accused of being involved in TalkTalk attack

Scotland Yard today reported about one of the culprits of the TalkTalk hacking attack.

As per the statement issued, a 15 year old boy has been arrested in Northern Ireland. The boy was arrested due to the suspicion that he might be involved in Misuse Act offenses.

Metropolitan Police reported that a house was searched on Monday in County Antrim at about 16:20 GMT. The boy is under the policy custody in the local police station of the same area.

The detectives and special investigators from the Police Service of Northern Ireland are interrogating the accused.

The inquiry is still in process and no other details have been revealed yet by the authorities.

The interrogation for the TalkTalk case is the joint investigation indulging the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI), and detectives from the Metropolitan Police Cyber Crime Unit (MPCCU), as per the statement by the police officials.

For those who are not aware, news surfaced the previous week that TalkTalk's website has been affected by a major cyber-attack.

TalkTalk is a popular broadband and phone providing company. It has over four million customers across whole UK.

So, hacking bank details and other personal information could have been the purpose behind the attack.

On Thursday, a detailed criminal investigation was started for the case. According to the company management, there is no conformity regarding the amount of information attacked by the breach in security.

But, the chief executive, Dido Harding, on Thursday said that the attack was smaller and less impacting than initial idea.

He also said that any credit card or other important details would not have been enough to withdraw the money from any customers’ account.

Card details accessed were incomplete with many numbers appearing as an ‘x’ and not usable for financial transactions Various Business Leaders have expressed their concerns over the attack and have demanded the urgent action against the issue.

MPs on Monday said that an inquiry would be made into the attack due to which the security of many customers was at stake.

TalkTalk’s share declined about 12% in Monday trading which is greater than the losses from the last week.
