  • Game of Thrones season 6 premiere will probably be delayed!

HBO announced the winter program schedules today which could mean GOT will return later than expected.

The premiere dates for the winter program by HBO were announced on Thursday. According to the late winter show airing schedule the three shows will premiere in February. If the series run for the standard 10 week duration they will end in late March or early April.

Although no premiere dates have been announced for the Game of Thrones it cannot possibly return in April. The delay may be due to the domino effect created by the other three winter series.

Unless the three other HBO series end, Game of Thrones cannot return. So Game of Thrones premiere could be pushed to late April 2016. One of the winter series by HBO is the Martin Scorsese’s ’70s-set record label drama Vinyl. Similarly the show Girls and Togetherness will also return in February.

Game of Thrones should return on the 17th of April but a delay is more likely. Game of Thrones could be aired along with the series Silicon Valley and Veep. But for the last two years HBO has not aired the three shows together.

Since all three are Emmy favourites, HBO is probably going to prevent a clash. A late premiere for Game of Thrones would mean the finale will also be pushed into late summer. So Game of Thrones fans will have to wait until late spring to know the fates at Castle Black.

Only one person could be happy about the delay of the sixth season: the author, George R. R. Martin. Martin has been cancelling public appearances to be able to finish the next novel. Major plot moves from the book will be revealed in the 6th season even before the book is published.
