  • The HFAs have officially launched the Award season!

The Hollywood Film Awards took place last night at the Beverly Hilton and honoured many stars.

Last night the 19th annual Hollywood Film Awards were hosted. The vent took place at the Beverly Hilton and was filled to the brim with many Hollywood starlets. The event is being hailed as ‘The Official Launch of the Awards Season’.

The HFAs were hosted by James Corden who started off the show on a merry note. Corden joked if anyone had told me he would be here hosting the HFAs he would have asked what the HFAs are.

The event seemed like the first practice round for the coming months of awards and campaigns. The HFAs are not televised so they do not censorship and plenty of stars took advantage of the fact.

During the award show an array of stars came up on the stage. Some were presented with awards while others shared their Hollywood stories. Jamie Foxx, Johnny Depp, Jake Gyllenhaal, Will Smith and Selena Gomez were a few A-listers to grace the stage. Others such as Joel Edgerton, Alicia Vikander and Ridley Scott were honoured with awards.

Amy Poehler notably took the stage to make a crude joke involving ‘nuts’ and ‘balls’. Ice Cube graced the stage to present his son O'Shea Jackson Jr., and the cast of Straight Outta Compton an award. The cast was awarded with the Hollywood Breakout Ensemble Award.

Robert De Niro, Carey Mulligan and Will Smith were the biggest winners of the night. Carey Mulligan was awarded the Hollywood Actress Award and Will Smith took the Hollywood Actor Award. De Niro was given the Hollywood Career Achievement Award and a standing ovation.
