eBay Black Friday 2015 Engages Crowd in Wish Bigger Wishbone Event on Thanksgiving Day

eBay has big plans for the Holiday shopping season. The want to transform into a major Black Friday and Holiday shopping destination.

20-year-old eBay is seen still by most consumers as the online destination to find deals in auctions, used items and hard to find products. The eBay Deals page is still an insider tip to score deeply discounted deals. Just last week a $100 iTunes Gift card code sold for $75. eBay has announced a new campaign and destination for the Holiday season that is aimed at further making eBay a shopping destination for deals like Amazon or Walmart.

The new eBay Wish Bigger campaign promotes the new Holiday shopping destination at eBay.com/holidays. On Thanksgiving Day eBay will offer the Wish Bigger Wishbone event. The Wish Bigger Wishbone takes inspiration from the tradition of breaking the turkey wishbone.

Deals are crowd sourced by shoppers "wishing" which Black Friday deal eBay should offer. On, shoppers can visit the ebay-wish-bigger.com (coming soon) site to vote to break open and unlock a series of deals on the season’s most coveted gifts across tech, toys, fashion and home.

Beginning at 4 p.m. EST until 10 p.m. EST, competing deals will be featured on each side of the wishbone, and the item that receives the most votes over the course of an hour will be released to shoppers in a limited quantity. This sounds like a promising way to score Black Friday 2015 deals on Thanksgiving Day online. The company has announced several upcoming deals including up to 30% off on top name-brand electronics such as Apple, Samsung and GoPro, up to 65% off on premium Fashion brands such as Tumi, Hunter Boots, Uggs, Vera Bradley and Ray Bans, up to 50% off name-brand items for the home such as Keurig and KitchenAid and up 50% off on Samsonite luggage.

Ebay has 159 million active buyers and 800 million listings at any given time. 79% of the items sold on eBay are new. Founded in 1995 in San Jose, Calif., eBay is one of the world’s largest and most vibrant marketplaces for discovering great value and unique selection. In 2014, eBay enabled $83 billion of gross merchandise sales volume.

Walmart, Amazon and others started to offer early Black Friday and Holiday deals online on November 1. Again Black Friday retailers offer the whole month of November Black Friday 2015 deals.
