Owned by Google, YouTube has now added two new virtual reality (VR) features to its Android app, and with your Google Cardboard viewer and current phone – you’re set to enjoy the best of videos captured and shared with friends and family over great distances, according to a YouTube blog post.

The quality of videos taken and shared with the new VR gives viewers the experience of being there with the subject in the videos. But then, one or two things must first be explained though.

YouTube now supports VR videos, and this is the type of video that makes viewers feel they are right there with the subjects within the video. This technology gives a sense of depth, making near things look near and far things look far.

Another thing is that all YouTube users can now watch YouTube videos using Google Cardboard, in order to experience a sort of virtual movie theater. You only need to select the new “Cardboard” option from the watch page menu, and as soon as your phone is dropped into the viewer, you’re good to go. This opens you up to the largest VR content library right where you are.

To get started, you may need to download the new YouTube app from Google Play to get going with quality VR videos from the largest video sharing platform in the world.
