Activision Blizzard Has Call of Duty Movie Plans

Activision is all set to take expand universe to TV and movies.

Activision Blizzard is soon going to make an official debut of Activision Blizzard Studios. The new studio will be a film and TV unit set to develop the gaming company’s huge franchises like “Call of Duty,” “Diablo” and “Candy Crush".

The new studio will use the company’s libraries and databases to help with many television and film projects. In order to run the studio successfully and to make a bizarre entry in the film world, Activision Blizzard has bagged Nick van Dyk as a Co-president.

For those who don’t know, Nick van Dyk was formerly a vice president of business development and strategy at The Walt Disney Company and a chief strategy officer at Artisan Entertainment.

His notable projects include Pixar, Marvel, and Lucasfilm. Almost one year has passed since Van Dyk took hold of Activision Blizzard.

He will be leading the company in the film and TV studio along with another creative executive who is yet to be announced.

The Activision Blizzard Studios is already working on its first project. The new soon-to-be television program is named as Skylanders Academy and is based on the toys-to-life franchise.

The voice acting for the series is done by Justin Long in the role of Spyro and Ashley Tisdale as Stealth Elf.

Other actors include the famous Jonathan Banks who was also in Breaking Bad, Harland Williams, Norm Macdonald, and Richard Horvitz.

The series is in progress under the supervision of Eric Rogers and the pilot episode is expected to be on air in 2016.

Apart from the above mentioned series, Activision Studios also have an upcoming project which will be a cinematic adoption of the famous Call of Duty franchise.

The company is keen to make a successful series of feature films that will be primarily based on the military shooter franchise.

The TV adaptation for the movie is also expected as well.

Van Dyk in his statement said that Activision Blizzard Studios is lucky to start its big production lineup with top of the world franchises that have not been introduced to the Television or film industry yet.

He also said that studio is not just some petty business idea but a core compliment to their business.

Van was motivated enough with their popularity in games and he expect that the game fame will also make them the leaders of the entertainment world.

The company has been quite active in the business sector for some time now. Last month, Activision Blizzard launched its own eSports division.

While, earlier this week the company also announced a $5.9 billion deal to overtake Candy Crush Saga creator King. Now, the company announced its debut in the film and TV world.

Due to Activision Blizzard’s passion and enthusiasm to lead the business world, we can surely expect some great investments in the future.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 is out since Friday. Activision is expected to announce another record sales launch of the new COD title.
