  • ESA’s warning network will monitor Sun’s storm causing activities!

The new network by the European Space Agency will monitor eruptions on the Sun’s surface which causes storms on Earth.

Previously the US government revealed how they will deal with storms in the future. The strategies also revealed certain space weather phenomena. Now ESA the European Space Agency has announced the development of a warning network. The warning network will work towards protecting the earth from Sun’s activity.

According to ESA they are currently receiving more than 60 products due to the Space Situational Awareness efforts. The products include high-quality measurements, forecasts, alerts and expert analysis. The products are all about space weather and the products will increase to 140 by 2016. The program was started by the ESA in 2009.

The information is gathered by using real time data on the Sun. A team of researchers at ESA gathers the information. The team will further study the disturbances in the environment around Earth. A large number of ground and space sensors are being used in the effort.

The sensors are delivered through the network of Expert Service Centres, established by ESA to combine and build on existing facilities in Member States. Alexi Glover of ESA will be responsible for network development.

“The Centres federate the wealth of space weather expertise and capabilities that exist at the national level,” says ESA’s Alexi Glover. “This provides a large added value not only to our Member States and their industries but to Europe as a whole.”

In the presence of such facilities the ESA has decided to build a new warning network. The warning network will detect the activities of the sun before time and warn about the effects on the earth.

Giant eruptions occur on the surface of the Sun. The eruptions also known coronal mass ejections (CMEs) wash over the surface of the earth. The CMEs are responsible for the storm on earth. The warning network by ESA will study and warn about space weather effects. The warning network is proving to be a growing success in Europe.
