Spectre Tops with $550 Million Worldwide
  • Spectre ranks at the top earning $550 million worldwide

Spectre maintains its top rank in the second week and pockets more than $500 million with worldwide releases.

Spectre released without much promotions and endorsements. The name of Bond was enough to build the hype of the 24th installment of the movie franchise. Starring Daniel Craig as the elusive 007, the previous movie Skyfall in the series created ripples of its own in the world.

Those ripples were enough to carry out the Bond craze until the release of Spectre. Also starring Christopher Waltz, Monica Bellucci and Lea Seydoux and the title song by Sam Smith “Writings on the Wall”, Spectre was the perfect marriage with the fans peaking interest.

Spectre has managed to keep atop the blockbuster lists worldwide. Even in its second week, the movie seems to be fairing especially well, enjoying the smallest second weekend franchise drop since Casino Royale, pushing the new title over $130 million.

Spectre, brought in an estimated $35.4 million for only a 49.7% drop. After breaking records in the U.K., the film took in an estimated $48 million in China this weekend.

If that estimate holds it's looking at China records as the largest opening weekend and largest opening three days of all time for any 2D US film. Add to that, it's already encroaching on the $59 million Skyfall made during its entire China run.

The Peanuts Movie is the second in line to have held out for a second consecutive week, according to BoxOfficeMojo. Holding on to second place with an estimated $24.2 million and falling 45 percent.

The retelling of Charles M. Schulz’s classic comic strip has benefited from being one of the only family-friendly flicks in theaters right now, and its domestic total is now at $82.5 million. Love the Coopers won the third spot as a newcomer in the mix and held out at estimated $8.4 million in 2,603 locations

Surprisingly, the Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt starrer By the Sea failed to create a stir and the movie seems to be dwindling on the box office despite the world’s top couple starring as the main characters.
