  • Researchers prove that Human Thoughts have Materiality

Researchers have proved beyond a shadow of doubt that such wispy things as human thoughts have solid materiality behind them.

The experts at two universities have claimed that human thoughts can have a material basis. The experiments seem to prove that words have an effect on eye trajectory. Linguistic ability seems to channel a person’s mapping of the ocular space before him.

The up-down and left-right axes that surround us and which we are used to from the cradle to the grave are what this is all about. Mental stimuli lend credence to the materiality of thought.

The acid test was whether the meanings of words can lead to a change in the levels of stimulation in the mind (or brain). The track playing in our head is the crux of the matter. The feel of a situation is something which registers in your noggin and it is very real and not the stuff that wishy washy dreams are made of.

Certain words were presented to the test subjects. They read them in the designated order. And the stimuli that registered in their brains were noted down via instruments of neurology. The result was that the words activated certain regions of the brain.

It was found that even when the subject had his or her attention fixed elsewhere, the stimuli from the words registered in specific regions. Thus mere words are able to generate an effect in the brain regardless of there being no objects present in the vicinity. Thus the brain is unable to distinguish between fantasy and reality. That is its biggest advantage as well as its chief drawback.

Man can plan ahead and use the metaphor and his observational powers to bring about culture, civilization and other valuable fields such as art, science and literature. But he can also bungle his priorities and mistake words for reality and thus end up becoming fanatical and slightly schizophrenic in nature.

The mere act of remembering something or responding to visual stimuli may lead to thoughts which could be found to affect various brain regions. Thus what we think of as a flimsy thing is actual very real and not just a series of phantasmagoria.

Man’s experimental side and his exploratory drive are all symbolic and sign-based. Semantics aside, the very art of lending significance to something is what lies behind the progress of all human endeavors.
