The range topping sedan design was demonstrated by Volvo through the Microsoft HoloLens technology.

Volvo is all set to release its range topping S90 sedan. The vehicle will be released at the Detroit Auto Show 2016, according to AutoBlog. The auto show is to take place in January 2016 less than 2 months away.

Previously the design of the S90 sedan was revealed by the Swedish auto maker through the help of Microsoft. It seems Volvo and Microsoft has also entered a new partnership. Now the S90 will be released at the same time as the new partnership has been established.

Volvo had used the Microsoft's HoloLens virtual reality technology to introduce the design of the S90. Volvo and Microsoft will develop next generation automotive technologies together.

The Microsoft HoloLens is the world's first fully untethered holographic computer. The HoloLens may be used in future to redefine how to encounter and explore a car. The two companies will also utilise data generated from connected cars to create new services.

Two more shadowy renderings of the S90 were demonstrated by Volvo. The additional renderings of the released show the profile and rear of the S90. The 2 shots also show hints of the roofline, Thor's Hammer headlights, and taillights.

The S90 is the replacement of the S80 model. The S90 will be built on the same Scalable Product Architecture platform. The platform received an award for the 2016 XC90.

Even the powertrains of the SUV and the sedan will likely be the same. Volvo may also offer a plug-in hybrid version of the four-door in future. Volvo also plans to launch a V90 wagon with the same underpinnings as the 90-series vehicles.
