  • The Big Short stars make a ripple through the investment market on big screen

The Big Short trailer release arouses the audience interest for the property investment burst that the characters foresaw and profited from.

Adam McKay takes his funny bones into some serious business. His new movie, The Big Short, has been adapted from Michael Lewis’ book of the same name. The movie is set shortly before the big credit burst and the housing market in the US and elsewhere collapsed.

The movie features a group of financial outsiders, including Carell’s Mark Baum, Brad Pitt’s Ben Rickert, Ryan Gosling’s Jared Vennett and Christian Bale’s Michael Burry who foresee this collapse by assessing that banks that have been playing fast and loose with an awful lot of money.

They then decide to punish the fat cats with some clever investing, risking it all to try to warn people and to make some profit themselves.

Talking about their characters, Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling and Sam Wittrock revealed that they still haven’t met all their co-stars in the movie. The actors said that the roles had such depth and intensity and Adam made them aware of the facts.

That meant that there was actually no added humour but whatever was based on facts. There was no room for improvisation and the background story gave the actors a solid foundation to draw from while they played out their characters. The actors also got to meet the real guys they were portraying in the movie.

With praise following its screenings in the States, The Big Short certainly seems to be one to watch out for, and boasts a healthy cast that also includes Marisa Tomei, Karen Gillan, Melissa Leo, Hamish Linklater and Rafe Spall. The film will be out here on January 22.
