Tech Tats: Biometric Tattoos to Monitor Your Health and Location

The high tech firm Chaotic Moon is to produce biometric tattoos that will make cyborgs out of human beings.

The uses could range from the medical to the militaristic. All future wearable devices could be implanted onto the skin of the owners. And this will be in the form of tattoos.

Chaotic Moon, a firm based in Texas, has created a tattoo of sorts that has advanced circuitry and sophisticated components in it which could be inked onto a user’s skin. This could collect vital signs and other health status data from the consumer in the blink of an eye.

“This is the new wearable,” Chaotic Moon CEO Ben Lamm told TechCrunch. “The future of wearables is biowearables.”

“This is not something that can be easily removed like a Fitbit. It can be underneath a flack jacket, directly on the skin to be collecting this data and being reported back,” Lamm said of military applications.

The biometric procedure is still in its prototypical stages. The info obtained via this device could ultimately be sent to a medical establishment for analysis. And it could also help in a military setting.

“We get to do a lot of cool stuff at Chaotic Moon but with this we think there’s military applications for it, health applications for it and there are all kinds of opportunities around it,” Lamm said.

The tattoo works like an Apple Watch or Jawbone. It is a very fantastic and fabulous concept in cyborgean mechanics. The future is indeed one where the field of bionics will flourish. And bionics is where biology and electronics meet. The whole scenario conjures up images of a Terminator a la Arnold Schwarzenegger.

This new electronic tattoo will not be easy to spot. It can escape detection. It will most likely be hidden behind a heavy armor jacket in soldiers. By the way, the tattoo is erasable anytime. It can be washed off like an ordinary fake tattoo.

“It’s an eco-friendly, non-invasive use of a platform that basically turns you into a human circuit board,” Lamm said.

Everything from temperature to sweat levels, heart rate and water balance in the body will be monitored thanks to this new tattoo. Stress levels will also be gauged on a daily basis. The mother company, Chaotic Moon is known for producing drones and fitness trackers. This is the first time it has stepped in the bio-wearable arena. But it was a case of now or never.

According to one of the insiders, a lot of cool stuff goes on at Chaotic Moon. The tattoo could even be used to track a person at a concert or to find your kid if he or she gets lost. The obvious military usage of the tattoo cannot be overstated.

The detection of mustard gas in the air, disease in a soldier’s body and wounds he or she has incurred will be a cinch thanks to this novel tattoo. And the biggest advantage is that the tattoo is not a hazard for the environment as most technological stuff normally is. It seems the concept of Cyberpunk or Hybrid Human Beings has just been given the thumbs up!
