The new Amazon Prime drone looks promising. Let Top Gear's former host Jeremy Clarkson explain it to you.

Just ahead of the busiest shopping day for Amazon, the retailer shows off its new delivery drone design, and it looks incredible. In a video presented by Jeremy Clarkson, Amazon paints the not so distant future of Prime Air, getting delivers in 30 minutes or less.

Prime Air is designed to safely get packages to customers in 30 minutes or less using small unmanned aerial vehicles, also called drones.

Amazon says that Prime Air has great potential to enhance the services it already provides to millions of customers by providing rapid parcel delivery that will also increase the overall safety and efficiency of the transportation system. Putting Prime Air into service will take some time according the retailer, but Amazon will deploy it when they get the regulatory support needed to realize their vision.

The new Amazon Prime Air drone design can take off vertically, but fly horizontally like an airplane and reach much faster speeds.

Amazon clearly owns Jeremy Clarkson now, after paying him millions for his new car show on Amazon Prime. It's the second commercial for Amazon he shows up in. He is appearing in a Fire TV stick ad.

Why Amazon chose to unveil Prime Air on Sunday before Cyber Monday is unclear. The retailer should be focused on getting cyber deals onto amazon.com.
