  • Alfa Romeo & Maserati delay models due to slow market in China!

While Alfa Romeo delayed the release of Giulia sedan, Maserati has delayed the release of the Alferi sports car.

It seems China’s auto market is having a bad time. Sales have been dwindling. As a result both Alfa Romeo and Maserati have delayed the release of their latest models. Alfa Romeo has delaying the release of the Giulia sedan and an unnamed CUV.

Maserati on the other hand has delayed the release of the Alfieri sports car. The Alfieri sports car was supposed to arrive in showrooms by 2016. However now the plan has been put on hold indefinitely and there is no guarantee if the sports car will ever even come into the market.

The Chinese domestic market is faltering. The market has been experiencing its slowest period of growth in nearly three decades. So Fiat Chrysler is rethinking its plans for its Italian models the Alfa Romeo and Maserati, reported Bloomberg.

Fiat will now shift its focus and bring out updated MiTo and Giulietta hatchbacks. Both of the models will play better in Europe. The news was released by Bloomberg through an unnamed source from FCA.

It seems the plan by Sergio Marchionne the boss of FCA is not going smoothly. The subcompact hatch was not supposed to survive after 2016. However it seems a new updated version is going to come in half a year. Since sales numbers are not high in China right now, the updated version of the subcompact seems the right choice.
