  • HTC to unveil 2nd generation of HTC Vive kit at CES 2016!

HTC announced in a blog post the official launch of the HTC Vive has been pushed to April 2016.

HTC just released a blog post and announced it will be attending the CES 2016. At the CES 2016 HTC plans to unveil the second generation of the Vive development kit.

The blog update also confirmed the commercial launch of the Vive. It will now be in April 2016. The second generation of the HTC Vive Developer Kit is being called DK2.

The timing of the announcement implies the kit may have originally been released commercially at CES. However for now there is only a confirmation. The announcement may have been an effort to smooth over sour feelings from the delay.

Sources suggest the new HTC Vive is going to have different look than its predecessor. The second generation kit will have modular headphones and a new mounting system.

CES or the Consumer Electronic Show 2016 is slated to run from the 6th to the 9th of January. HTC will officially ‘Launch’ the Vive kit at the event in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The company also announced in the blog post they will produce 7,000 units more of the kit. The units will be provided to developers and they will be the second generation kits.

HTC also announced they will host a developer’s conference in Beijing before the launch. The conference will be held on the 18th of December 2015. The price tag of the consumer ready version of the HTC Vive has not been released as of yet.
