NASA has propounded the building of a Death Star from asteroids.

The Death Star was quite a feat in the movies. It was incinerated by the rebels twice in a row in the Star Wars franchise.

NASA engineers have told Wired that the next time a Death Star needs to be built, it ought to be created from asteroids. It did not need a whole lot of stuff to be transported into outer space from the surface of a planet. You just needed an asteroid or two and the star would be ready in no time.

The asteroid furnished all the metals. Then there are the organic compounds, water and the building blocks that would go on to make the Death Star. NASA’s Asteroid Redirect Mission involves alighting on an asteroid and than biting off a huge chunk of it which will be put in orbit around the moon.

When 2025 rolls around, such a plan lies in the works for NASA. The Empire Strikes Back was a dud. It’s whole setup was purely crapulent. Instead of building Death Stars from out of nothingness, a better idea was to employ an asteroid that was already present in outer space.

The concept of the Death Star is one that is very intriguing. It was explored the first time around in the Star War series. This sort of thinking could one fine day lead to other developments in reality.

These include terraformation and galactogenesis. The future is an untrodden path and its doors may be unopened right now but one fine day they will all allow entry to the world’s inventors and discoverers.

Asteroids are especially the likeliest grounds for exploration in space projects. As the race for space quickens, it will prove to be the final frontier in a very surreal way.

The mining and colonization of other planets lie wide open for humanity. All that is needed is pluck and chutzpah. NASA, the ESA and other companies such as SpaceX and Orbital ATK will lead the way on this endless quest.

The price is an advancement in science and the casting off of age old practices that get in the way. The latest technology already resembles magic in its intensity.

And in the future, when the sun explodes, humanity may indeed have made its way to some other solar system in a starship. Such is the survival instinct. So the construction of a Death Star is not such an impossibility.
