Microsoft has set aside a bunch of Android apps on their own app store that is called "Microsoft Apps." Its purpose? To put all of the Android apps together so that you can download them together, much like Apple has done with their branded app.

There are two parts to this new development: it shows that Microsoft is still working cross-platform and that the company is still hesitant to allow its work onto other services and types of software on rival operating systems. It also shows that Microsoft is creating an Android app store (or catalog, depending on how you look at it) inside of the actual Android app store.

An early comment noted that fact. From the app’s page on Google Play that the new app seems almost pointless.

For some people, this might seem correct.

That comment is almost correct. However, Apple has been doing it and it has been working out for them. What Microsoft wants is for you to be able to see and find their apps without having to wade through hundreds of thousands of other apps. So far the app has around four stars, which means most people are liking it.

The new app will also help people realize just how many apps Microsoft has - it is extensive. It will also help people who are new to the Android app market realize which apps are worth their time.
