The internet is all abuzz about the casting of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child - and a lot of it focuses around one character in particular.

Jamie Parker, who is currently starring in the West End production of Guys and Dolls will star as Harry Potter in the new production, which is set 19 years after JK Rowling's books ended with the death of Voldemort.

London Road actor Paul Thornley will play Ronald Weasley.

According to The Daily Mail, the controversy comes with Noma Dumezweni who will play the beloved Hermione Granger.

"I'm so excited with the choice of casting for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child," Rowling said. "I can't wait to see Jamie, Noma and Paul bring the adult Harry, Hermione and Ron to life on stage next summer."

However, the problem that some people are having is that Hermione will be played by a black actress as opposed to a white one like Emma Watson, who portrayed the "brightest witch of her age" in the Harry Potter movie series.

Rowling, however, doesn't think that a black actress actually goes against the canon of the books at all. She says that she "never specified' in the books what the color of Hermione's skin actually was: "Canon: brown eyes, frizzy hair and very clever. White skin was never specified. Rowling loves black Hermione."
