CES 2016: Toyota Will Unveil New Map Generation System at CES
  • CES 2016: Toyota will unveil its latest mapping tech!

The new system generates high-precision maps using on-board camera and GPS devices data. The new system will go on display at CES (Consumer Electronics Show) 2016 in Las Vegas, which will run from January 6-9.

Toyota just announced that it will be exhibiting products for CES 2016. At the convention Toyota will reveal a new system of mapping technology. The system is capable of generating high-precision maps.

The system uses data from on-board cameras and GPS devices to generate the maps. The system will be unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.

According to Toyota, the new system will help with the safe introduction of automated driving. The system gathers data from production vehicles in the form of road images and vehicle position information.

The info is then sent to data centres where it is automatically pieced together. The info is then corrected and updated to come up with highly accurate maps. The high tech maps cover a wide area.

Since automated driving systems will need accurate info of roads, the system is perfect. The system will give precise measurement of vehicle positional data.

The data is required for dividing lines and curbs. The new system employs automated, cloud-based spatial information generation technology. It comes with high-precision road image data.

The data can be updates, implemented and scaled up in real-time and at low cost. Toyota plans to add the system into production level vehicles by 2020.

CES is a gathering place for consumer technology businesses. In 2016 more than 3600 exhibitors will attend the Consumer Electronics Show. The CES 2016 will carry on from the 6th until the 9th of January, 2016 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The CES is arranged by the Consumer Technology Association.
