ESRB Listings Reveal New PS2 Games On PS4

Five more classic titles likely on the way

Thanks to our friends at the Entertainment Software Rating Board, it has been revealed that the following five PS2 titles are in the process of being re-released on the PS4:

- Wild Arms 3
- Siren
- Primal
- Okage: Shadow King
- Ape Escape 3

Games that are directly ported to a new console do not need to be re-rated from the ESRB as long as the content remains the same, but the publisher does need to file paperwork to have the existing rating validated for the new system.

Of course, all that this officially means is that these games can be released on the PS4 when and if Sony decides to release them. It is not an official announcement that they are going to be released.

PS2 games on the PS4 come with a few enhancemens, notably the fact that they have full trophy support and that they are upscaled from their original resolution to look sharper and more detailed for the PS4's HD output (though, of course, they are not remastered in full high definition).

So far, only a handful of titles have been ported over, but Sony has indicated that it plans to continuously release new titles. It's a similar strategy to how Sony provided original Playstation games available to purchase on the PS3. After several years, more than 250 "PS One Classics" have been released.
