A 50-foot long and heavy humpback whale underwent an extraordinary journey into Narragansett Bay.

A 50 foot long humpback whale made an eccentric trip to Narragansett Bay on Monday. It acted playfully in the premises of Rhode Island for approximately an hour.

The harbormaster was making the rounds of the area when he spotted what he mistakenly took to be a boat. But upon closer scrutiny it turned out to be a 50 foot long humpback whale that was prancing about in the sea.

Normally, you don’t see a humpback whale in this region and under such circumstances. The harbormaster got a hold of his camera and took a few pictures of the whale while it was outside the water.

A bridge and an island could be seen in the background of the pics, reported Uncover California. Without these pics, nobody would believe their ears as to what had occurred on Narragansett Bay.

But as they say…seeing is believing. At first the harbormaster thought that the whale was stranded or caught in a net. But then to his surprise he realized that it was in fact playing in a very foolhardy manner.

The humpback whale was having the time of its life and it was a wondrous thing to gaze at. The harbormaster, who was named Hughes, had spent his life at his job which was related to the marine profession.

He had also been a boat captain before he became a harbormaster. He had traveled the world and seen all sorts of things. But never had he seen such a spectacle.

Dolphins and beluga whales have shown such eccentric behavior before. But never before had he witnessed a humpback whale engaging in such funny shenanigans. It was almost like he was watching a cartoon.

Humpback whales are not normally seen in the bay area. They are more of a rarity. The whale was monitored and soon enough it was back on its way into the ocean.

The romp on the shore was just that…a little playful period of irresponsibility. After that brief interregnum, it was time to go back to business as usual. Animals in the wild seldom engage in eccentric behavior.

However, when you look at those that are trapped in zoos, they do engage in all sorts of weird antics. It is a natural consequence of unnatural circumstances. So seeing this feral whale getting all wild and woolly in its behavior was something altogether new.
