Windows 10 Installed on 200 million Devices

Microsoft announced today that the Windows 10 install base has passed 200 million devices.

Microsoft comes into 2016 with 200 million Windows 10 activations. The Windows 10 adoption is accelerating, with more than 40% of new Windows 10 devices becoming active since Black Friday 2015.

Windows 10 continues to be on the fastest growth trajectory of any version of Windows – ever – outpacing Windows 7 by nearly 140% and Windows 8 by nearly 400%.

According to the NPD Group US retail PC share for Windows 10 grew 16 points to 62% compared to the prior four weeks since Black Friday. Windows 10 mix of PCs rose to 87% from 58% prior to the holiday.

Microsoft also revealed that users have spent over 11 billion hours on Windows 10 in December alone, spending more time on Windows than ever before.

Windows 10 is on its way to finally be the Windows release everyone is happy with, giving Microsoft a new platform to build growth.

Yusuf Mehdi, Corporate Vice President, Windows and Devices Group at Microsoft said: "We are even more excited that these customers are loving Windows 10. Overall, we are seeing significantly higher customer satisfaction with Windows 10 than any prior version of Windows."
