Facebook released an in-app web browser to select users of the mobile Facebook app.

Facebook aims to making browsing the web inside the Facebook app better with the release of its own browser. Select users will experience a new in-app browser with enhanced features in the Facebook App.

BBC's Henry Wilmer shared a screenshot of the new browser on Twitter. The most noticeable difference is the ability to type in an URL like in any full web browser. Facebook displays in the footer of the browser the Facebook popularity of the current page.

Facebook has not announced plans for its own in-app browser. TNW reports that Facebook's in-app browser was spotted as early as December 4.

It makes a lot of sense to improve browsing inside the Facebook app. This way users have no reason to leave and use Safari to surf the web.

It is not clear at this point how close Facebook is to officially release the new browser. A good opportunity would be the Facebook F8 2016 developer conference scheduled for April 12 to 13, 2016 in San Francisco.

See below the complete screenshot of the new Facebook in-app browser.
