Sony PlayStation VR Price Leaks

A Swiss online shop has possibly leaked the price of Sony's VR goggles. It's cheaper than Oculus Rift.

The Sony PlayStation VR headset is expected to be released this year. Release date and price are still not announced. Now a Swiss online shop has leaked the price and release date of the PlayStation VR.

The price of the PlayStation is supposed to be 498 CHF, which is $496. If true that then the PlayStation VR is about $100 cheaper than the Oculus Rift. The shop states a release date of June 30th. The product page is still online.

The leak is hard to confirm, but it is possible that Sony is close to an announcement of price and release date of the PlayStation VR.

The major advantage of the PlayStation VR is that it only requires a Sony PS4 to work. The Oculus Rift requires a $1,000 Windows 10 PC.

The Sony PlayStation VR headset is equipped with a 5.7 inch 1920 X RGB X 1080 resolution OLED display. This new screen expands the field of view and enables low persistence, removing motion blur.

Games for PlayStation VR can be rendered at 120fps. When combined with the OLED display’s high refresh rate and the power of PS4, it means PS VR outputs amazingly smooth visuals.

Low latency is crucial for a great VR experience, and Sony reduced latency to less than 18ms, about half of what the first PlayStation VR prototype had. It helps to deliver a sense of presence and comfort to players.

By utilizing 3D audio technology uniquely developed by SCE, sounds that players hear will also change in real-time depending on their head orientation within the 360-degree virtual space. Furthermore, by using PlayStation Move (PS Move) Motion Controller or Wireless Controller (DUALSHOCK 4), players can explore virtual environments, and interact with virtual characters as if they are actually present in the world of a game.
