In its bid to reach more students with practical skills needed to explore and develop iOS apps for a global audience, Apple today announces its readiness to open up an iOS App Development Center in Italy, the first of its kind in Europe.

Located within the campus of a partner institution in Naples, Italy, the iOS App Development Center is dedicated to providing interested students with specialized curriculum courses to enable them become future leaders within the Apple developer community.

The center will also support and empower teachers and other willing partners within Italy to provide deep developer training so that students can get the most from their curriculum. And in a few years, Apple looks forward to expanding this program to other countries as well.

“Europe is home to some of the most creative developers in the world and we’re thrilled to be helping the next generation of entrepreneurs in Italy get the skills they need for success,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO. “The phenomenal success of the App Store is one of the driving forces behind the more than 1.4 million jobs Apple has created in Europe and presents unlimited opportunities for people of all ages and businesses of all sizes across the continent.”

Apple’s digital ecosystem serves as the basis for over 1.4 million direct and indirect jobs in Europe, and these include 1.2 million software engineers, app creators, entrepreneurs and other developers designing iOS apps, not to mention normal office and administrative jobs supported via the iOS app system.

To this extent, app creators and software engineers in Europe have been able to earn over 10.2 billion euros from marketing functional apps to a worldwide market.

The App Store and the developer community are directly responsible for over 75,000 jobs in Italy. For instance, IK Multimedia released its first app in 2009 and this app has enjoyed over 25 million downloaded; and Musement, a book travel and excursions app, launched in 2013, and since then has become available in 7 languages and downloaded in over 50 countries around the world.

“Apple’s continued innovation inspires us to create the best mobile experiences and make our customers’ lives just a little bit easier,” said Roberto Macina, CEO and founder of Qurami. “Apple’s app ecosystem is the anchor for our business, and developing across Apple’s operating systems has enabled us to easily and quickly bring the Qurami experience to iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch users.”

Apple also continues to work and partner with small and large businesses across the world in order to establish their objectives while helping Apple develop better technologies that would benefit every individual in the world.
