According to the director, Pride and Prejudice is proof that no matter what you do to Austen’s story, the template she created can withstand anything.

Lily James, Jack Huston, Bella Heathcote, Douglas Booth and Matt Smith were a few of the stars and starlets that were present at the premiere of the film “Pride and Prejudice and Zombies” in LA. The movie is based on the Grahame-Smith novel which was published six years ago.

The narrative basically takes a Pride and Prejudice scenario and gives it a twist via a zombie outbreak. Thus the Bennet sisters are not only spouse-hunting, but killing zombies at the same time.

A heady mixture of romantic storyline, deadpan humor and thrilling action, the film takes the title to its extreme. Jane Austen cannot be beat even in these ultramodern times.

She is female genius at its absolute apogee of greatness. The project for this film was for a long took time stuck in the pipeline.

Many big names were included among its directors. As for the character of Elizabeth Bennet, many women were ready to play the coveted role. Scarlett Johansson and Anne Hathaway were just two of the frontrunners for the female lead slot.

Also the parent company got changed in between from Lionsgate to Screen Gems. The “love as life” metaphor and zombies as an “outbreak of sickness” have the romance of Elizabeth and Darcy in the forefront.

While there pride and prejudice kept them away from each other, by lending the movie a healthy dose of horror, the game turns from a love match to a struggle for life and death.

Lily James at first could not get the logic of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, according to THR. The two topics seemed worlds apart. But once she read the script, she understood that there was a method to the madness.

It was in fact a courageous, thrilling and funky version of the Victorian tale of women in search of love and stability. The Bennet sisters learnt all sorts of martial arts and boxing for the fight scenes in the movie.

Fans are going to love this movie. The age-old fight between the forces of love and hate will be shown in the form of personified characters in this film.
