Fox has given an OK to the pilot of the reboot of 24 which will feature new main roles including Straight Outta Compton star Corey Hawkins.

With the reboot of the sci-fi thriller The X-Files getting such a great response, Fox also considered the rest of its shows that the network can reboot. Kiefer Sutherland’s 24 has been approved to be rebooted in a brand new spinoff titled 24: Legacy.

The show will have new plots, new characters and a new cast. No one from the old cast will be in the show. Although Kiefer Sutherland might serve as an EP for the plot. The 24: Legacy will feature a new main character by the name of Eric Carter.

Carter is a strong and smart former Army Ranger with a rough childhood. He returns home in Virginia with his wife Nicole, but finds his past catching up to him.

He eventually turns to the Counter Terrorist Unit (CTU) for help in saving his life and stopping what potentially could be one of the largest-scale terror attacks on American soil.

Fox needed a strong actor for Carter’s role who could carry the show ahead. There was no one better than Straight Outta Compton’s Corey Hawkins.

Corey played Dr.Dre in the musical biopic of N.W.A. He has also worked in AMC’s The Walking Dead last year and a part in the action film Non-Stop. The actor also has a role in Kong: Skull Island.

Corey is not the only main character. The network is also trying to cast a female lead to add another element to the show, according to EW.

According to the producers, 24 was not about a single man but rather an idea of the man in crisis and how he handles it. 24: Legacy will try to tackle what Jack Bauer has been facing in the past nine season from a completely different perspective.
